How do you make Car Magnets?
June 01, 2018
Have you been wondering how to make car magnets? Try the innovative, new MagnetPouch - the DIY solution that you can make on-demand from the comfort of your home of office.
What You Need to Make Car Magnets:
-
• 12" x 18" Vehicle-Rated MagnetPouches
• Pouch Laminating Machine (see recommendations/tips below)
• Printed Design (Use any printer and paper; see tips below)
How to Make Car Magnets:
-
① Design and print your magnet using a 12" x 18" template. You can make it vertical or horizontal, whichever you prefer.
② Place your print the MagnetPouch and center.
③ Run the MagnetPouch through your pouch laminating machine.
④ Place your new magnet on your vehicle of choice!
Vehicle MagnetPouches are perfect for car signs and business promotions of many kinds. They let you promote your business while on the road and parked, reaching thousands of people daily, depending on your driving schedule. Plus they are so affordable, you will see a return on your minor investment quickly when you start getting calls from clients saying "I saw your truck at Miriam's Diner and would like a price".
The laminate attached to the strong magnet make a perfect combination; lamination protects your design from rain and sun exposure to make it long-lasting. The magnet is rated to hold tight, even at freeway speeds, so you don't have to worry about your sign flying off. Plus, since the entire sheet is a magnet (not just the edges) you get a strong and stable hold, even on the slightly curved surfaces of your car or truck.

MagnetPouch Tips:
-
• Recommended Laminating Machines: For the best results with DIY Car Magnets, we recommend you use a pouch laminating machine that has a minimum of 6 rollers and is designed to handle photographs and lamination pouches that are 10 mil thick. Adjustable heat and speed settings are also recommended. Since MagnetPouches are thicker than traditional lamination pouches, these features will help you achieve the best finished car sign. The Sprinter-Lam 335R6 pouch laminator has been tested and approved for use with MagnetPouches.
• Recommended Paper: While MagnetPouches will work great with almost any standard paper stock, we recommend you pair them with a synthetic paper for outdoor and vehicle sign uses. They will last even longer, and be protected from water and sun more than when standard printed paper is used. Most synthetic base sheets (like PET) act as an insulator and will conduct heat at a slower pace, so be sure to adjust your laminator accordingly. You will also want to use a thinner paper stock, usually less than 14pt thick is best.
Troubleshooting your MagnetPouch:
-
① Not Sealing: This can happen if your laminator is not getting hot enough, or your pouch is running through too fast. Slow down the speed, increase the temperature, and try again. This may also happen if you are using a thicker paper stock inside your pouch. You can also try running the pouch through a second time.
② Wrinkles in Laminate: This can happen if your laminator is too hot, or your pouch is running through too slow. Speed it up, decrease the temperature, and try again. This can also happen if you made a collage of multiple images in one large pouch; instead, print your entire collage design on one sheet and try again.
With the innovative new DIY MagnetPouch laminatging pouches, you can quickly and easily produce as many custom car magnets as you need, on-demand, without having to worry about production minimums, high shipping fees, or other outsourcing costs.
