Description

With gold aluminum chicago screws, you can quickly and simply bind documents of any kind. They come in a huge selection of sizes, allowing you to bind even extra thick books up to about 2". Because they are loose screws (not attached to a spine) you can use as many or as few as you want for each document. This makes them incredibly versatile!

Made of a strong aluminum, these metal book binding posts won't chip or fade. They feature two pieces: a screw and a post. These pieces are easily screwed together, and apart, making it incredibly fast and easy to edit your document as-needed, and as many times as required. The shiny gold finish on these screw posts exudes excellence and professionalism. They are packaged with a pack of 100 sets, making them one of the least expensive ways to bind pages together.

I RECOMMEND THIS FOR:
Binding posts are my personal favorite option when it comes to screw post binding. They are easy to bind and unbind, and are available in a huge variety of sizes as well as extending options to allow for any capacity. They are ideal for anyone who may need to modify the items bound (photo books, presentations, blueprints, etc.), as well as those who need a clean bound look (very professional), and have a high capacity of pages or materials to bind (such as large machinery manuals, scripts, etc.).

WHAT I LIKE:
Aluminum Chicago screws are great because they are made of metal, which is easy to screw together and unscrew, as needed. There are no threading difficulties when trying to get both ends straight in order to connect properly; they are smooth and easy to work with. In addition, they come in the largest variety of sizes of all our screw posts, from tiny 1/8” posts up to 5” long. And the capacity can even be expanded further by adding the post extensions. For this reason, these metal screw posts offer the thickest potential binding capacity of any other binding method (possibly, with the exception of screw lock binding rings). They are also stocked in a couple different colors (black, gold, antique brass, silver), so you are not stuck with just plain silver male and female posts.

In addition, I like screw post bindings because they are fairly inexpensive, costing as little as about 7¢ each, depending on the size and color you choose. We also offer bulk pricing for larger quantities that can get the cost down lower; just call (866)537-2244 for a quantity discount quote.

Metal screw posts are also very versatile, and can be used for any application that has a standard size hole punch, no matter how many holes you have in the document. Bind just the corner with 1 Chicago screw, or put 3 in each document using the hole pattern of a standard 3-hole punch (many options available here). Bind the top, or bind the side...there are no restrictions.

THINGS TO CONSIDER:
As you add more extensions, the stability of the binding post will become less strong. For that reason, if you plan to bind what will become a very large book, such as 7” thick, you should buy the longest post available (5”) and then extensions. Sometimes customers will buy 2” posts, expecting to extend them larger over time, but it is not recommended to begin with something so much shorter than your final length.

You should also keep in mind that the smaller posts (female side) have a hole in the head. The purpose of this is to allow for more threading, and more strength-of-bind, however, some customers do not like the look of this. This is the case for screw posts up to (and including) 3/8”. Anything larger will have a slot for a flat head screwdriver. The screw end (male side) always has a flat slot (note: even though they are slotted for a screw driver, they are easily bound tightly with just your hands).

THE BOTTOM LINE:
Screw post binding works well for anyone (individual or business) who needs to bind an editable document quickly, without any machinery, and easily. You can use 1, 2, 3, or more screw posts per book, depending on your preference. They come in a couple professional colors, and a huge range of sizes to allow for very thick books up to 5”, or even larger when you add extensions.
