Description
With our selection of copier tab dividers, you can print your own index tabs on demand. Sometimes called Xerox tabs, these dividers are made of a 90# white index stock that is designed to run through a variety of different high speed copiers including the DocuTech and Xerox DocuColor series printers; just check your user manual for compatibility. Our copier tabs offer the highest quality so you can count on them to feed, print and run through your equipment smoothly while providing you with the professional look that your office requires.
These index dividers feature a clear mylar coating on the extensions that adds a durability and strength to prevent tearing. They are available in 1/3 cut so five tabs are visible when arranged in a set. Double reverse collated refers to the order of the tabs, which is reversed to be in 3-3-2-2-1-1 order. This means that the 1st and 2nd tabs are on the bottom of the sheet, and the last two tabs are on the top.

POPULAR USERS:
Copier tabs are most popular with businesses that need to print their own tabs in-house, however, are also used by individuals who want to print or write-on their tabs. Want ideas for fun and professional index tabs? Check out our Index Tabs Pinterest Board.
COPIER TAB BENEFITS:
The first and most notable perk of our copier tabs is the ability to customize them to suit your exact needs, without having to meet the custom tab divider minimum order requirements or wait for production times. You can print them on-demand, and in whatever quantity you need for your specific project. Side note: we can also make high quality custom tabs for you with just a 50 set minimum, if you prefer those to printing your own!
Another benefit is that there is a diverse selection of options that you can choose from. You may think “but aren’t these just plain paper tabs, how diverse can they really be?” Very!
① First, you can choose the tab cut from 6 different options. Tab cut refers to the tab width, and how many tabs can fit onto the sheet edge (also sometimes called "tabs per bank"). They are indicated via a fraction; for example, a 1/3 cut (one third) tab can fit 3 visible tabs along the edge without overlap, with each tab measuring about 3 ⁵/₁₆” wide (they stick out 1/2", so are all 1/2" tall).
② Once you know the proper cut for you, you can choose from the tab collation. Collation refers to the order of the tabs, and there are 3 different options: straight collated that are in 1-2-3 order, reverse collated that are in 3-2-1 order, and uncollated, where every tab is in just 1 position (so for comparison purposes, in 1-1-1 order, or 2-2-2 order, etc.). When a tab set is uncollated, you have to choose the position you want, and for all tabs except the center tab, the position contains two options. For example, position 1 flipped over is the same as position 5. Still a little confused? I don’t blame you! These photos of 1/5 cut tabs will help clarify index tab collation:
③ You can also choose whether or not to have a Mylar coating on the tab extension. This clear gloss coating adds extra durability to help prevent tearing and bending, and is ideal for projects that will be handled frequently.
④ Lastly, you can choose whether or not the tabs are pre-punched with 3-holes for ring binders.
Yet another benefit of copier tab dividers is the fact that they are made of a heavy weight 90# white, which is thick and durable, but will still easily run through many copiers and printers. To compare, standard printer paper is a 20# stock, so you can see that this is quite a bit thicker. The thick paper makes it more resistant to tearing, whether you choose pre-punched holes, or punch them yourself).
THINGS TO CONSIDER:
THE BOTTOM LINE:
Copier tabs are an essential tool for offices and businesses of all kinds that need the ability to print their own tabs, on-demand. Before you buy, be sure to check the manual for your printer or copier to be sure it can handle index dividers. And don't forget to pair these tabs with either our durable poly / plastic ring binders or our popular clear view binders.
Frequent Asked Questions
As you can imagine, there are thousands of different printer models available on the market, and we are unable to test every single model for compatibility. For a general list of tested printers, click here, but know that this is not a complete list; your printer might not be on this list, but could very well be compatible. Check your printer user manual for compatibility.
Our experience shows that Mylar tabs should be compatible with all copier machines unless they use an EA Toner. If your machine uses EA toner, then it requires a special Mylar.
Different copiers/printers will accept different tab collations; check your machine user manual for compatible options before you buy.
