Overview

Gorgeous, shimmery iridescent foils add a rainbow touch to any printed document. The iridescent shine is vibrant and luminous, seeming to change when seen from different angles and in different light. They are perfect for anything from wedding invitations and save the date cards, greeting cards, business cards, letter head, artistic prints, and anything in-between. The backing (or underlay) of this foil is opaque, so it completely covers your printed design. These holographic toner reactive foils have a special adhesive on the back that sticks to dry toner¹, which is used in most copiers and some select laser printers (note: it does not work with wax-based inks). Ready to add opalescent brilliance to your printed pages? Buy silver rainbow iridescent foil fusing rolls online from Binding101 today.

Description

With our clear iridescent foil fusing rolls you get a beautiful rainbow design that changes in the light. The underlay is an opaque base color that will not show the ink through. This means it will completely cover up your toner, so all you see is a beautiful iridescent rainbow foil on your printed design. You can choose from several different roll sizes and core sizes, and custom-cut widths are also available by special order.

Iridescent toner foil is perfect for adding a touch of class or uniqueness to business cards, letter hear, wedding invitations and so much more. These foil rolls are applied with the consistent heat and pressure that is offered by our foil fusing machines. It will stick to the dry toner¹ that is used in most standard copiers (and some laser printers). Reactive foils work well with smooth paper stocks³ of many kinds - all you have to do is print your design or text using a dry toner copier, then apply this foil to your page and run it through a foil fusing machine or pouch laminator². When the page comes out of the machine, just peel off the foil sheet and you will have a gorgeous foil pattern that has stuck to the toner only. These iridescent colors offer a shimmery, rainbow look that really stands out.

What Machines can Foil:

You can use a foil fusing machine to apply consistent heat (to activate the adhesive) and pressure (to ensure a clean and consistent application). Other heat machines, such as pouch laminators, may work as well, however, may require more heat testing and adjusting to get a perfect finished print. How to Foil

The method you use to foil will vary significantly based on the kind of machine you are using; a foil fuser, a roll laminator, or a pouch laminator. We have several blogs and resource posts about foil, including instructions for various methods. Click here and search the word "foil" to browse our foil blogs.

¹ The adhesive on the back of these foil rolls sticks to dry toner only; it will not work with wax based inks from laser printers.
² Compatible pouch laminators require certain features; they must be able to reach at least 300°F, have adjustable speed and temperature settings, be the proper width for your machine. If using a roll laminator, the machine must also have a film rewind feature and a matching core size. Other variables may factor into compatibility. Click here to see a list of laminators tested and approved for foiling. Note that transparent hologram foils may require more heat or more time under heat than other foils.
³ The adhesive applies well to smooth paper stocks of a variety of thicknesses. It does not, however, create a solid/consistent look on textured papers.

Frequent Asked Questions

Q
can I use this with a circuit explore air 2 to make nail charms?
Asked by Tyronie
A
Hello Tyronie. This item is manufactured for printing, and so has never been tested for that application. Sorry we cannot comment on the compatibility. If you want to test a sample before you buy a full roll, you may email info@buy101.com to request one; please note sample orders are delayed. Thank you.

Q
Will this work with my Minc machine?
Asked by Allen
A
Unfortunately, Minc machines do not reach a high enough temperature to provide solid results with our holographic, iridescent, and glitter foils. Some customers have reported that running it through a 2nd time without peeking has worked, but not all customers report good results.

Q
I read the response to Jenn's question about the difference between SIL-8 and SP-146, but I was wondering if you could provide more details about how the adhesion characteristics are different? Do you have any data about which equipment/paper/toner setups work better with one or the other? If it helps, I use a HeidiSwapp Minc for my foiling projects and papers equal to or heavier than 115gsm.
Asked by David
A
Hi David - The adhesion characteristics will actually be more affected by the toner/printer you are using than the heated machine itself. Unfortunately, because there are thousands of machines, toners, papers, and heat machines, we do not have more details on which ones work best with which. What we may be able to do is get you a sample piece of each so you can test them yourself and see which you prefer. I will have someone email you for more information to move forward with a sample request.

Q
What is the difference between SIL-08 and SP-146 rainbow iridescent foil?
Asked by Jenn
A
Hello! The pattern for both the SIL-08 and SP-146 Ranbow Iridescent foils is essentialy the same. They simpy have very slightly different adhesion characteristics. Some customers find that the SIL-08 works better with their individual equipment/paper/toner, and others find that the SP-146 works better... it really seems to just vary on a customer-by-customer basis. SIL-08 is the more popular option, but both work well in thorough testing that we have performed.
