I RECOMMEND THIS FOR:
The Accel Ultra from Coverbind is the ultimate in thermal binding, offering a level of speed and flexibility that you simply can’t get from any other machine. This unit is automated, so is ideal for large binding facilities and daily users; anyone who binds more than about 10,000 documents per year (800+ per month). This powerful machine will drastically improve your production speed while freeing up your operator’s time to perform other tasks. It will help you make books of all kinds, including with both soft and hard covers. Some of the popular customers include large schools (yearbooks, publications, gifts for parents, course catalogs), businesses (proposals, presentations, annual reports, board meeting tools), real estate agencies (proposals, sales tools, home buyer gifts), photography studios (photo books, gallery highlights, sponsorship/donor requests), and so many more. Consider the Cube for a lower volume, while still having the convenience and efficiency of automation.
WHAT I LIKE ABOUT IT:
The Ultra is my favorite binding machine, bar-none. Not just in the thermal category, but across every style and every type of binding; nothing else on the market compares. And here’s why…
As a part of the Coverbind Accel line, the Ultra takes the traditional thermal bind method and brings it to a completely new class level. The most unique feature of this machine is the continuous loading with automatic binding, which is how it can achieve speeds up to 60 books per minute (and no, that’s not a typo). Along with its little sister, the Cube, this machine is the only of its kind that offers Drop & Go technology that lets you literally drop in your books, and walk away from the machine. This means no more punching, punching, punching, looping, and closing over and over again, spending several minutes per book – just drop and go!
This also means that it is incredibly simple to use, so anyone in your shop can make their own books on-demand, as needed, with an incredibly low run cost. You can even bind books with the children on “take your kids to work day” – it is that easy, and that safe. Place your pages into the cover size selector, place your pages into a cover, and drop the cover into the machine; that’s it, you’re done.
Its ability to work with the full range of Coverbind covers means you can make soft covers with a clear front, soft covers with a window linen front, hard covers, and hard covers with a window – this versatility is a major benefit over traditional machines that only let you produce one look. It lets you make premium hard covers for your VIP clients, and keep to the more simple, soft cover look for internal documents. There are even customizable covers that you can print on-demand in your office. This machine will not only impress your staff using it, but also the people that you present the documents to, whether they be investors, customers, or anyone in between.
THINGS TO CONSIDER:
There are two versions of the Ultra to choose from: The Ultra or the Ultra Plus. The standard model will accept up to 5/8” covers, and the Plus will accept up to 1-1/2” covers. Other that that decision, the real only other consideration is the price. Some customers have expressed a bit of sticker shock, but let’s remember that this is not a traditional thermal binder, and when you consider all of the benefits –and the fact that it will save you a lot of money in labor— you will see the true value of this powerful machine.
THE BOTTOM LINE:
I think it is pretty clear that I love the Accel Ultra automated thermal binding machine. This fairly small, unimposing unit packs a powerful punch, drastically increasing production speed and efficiency. It is so easy to use, that literally anyone can do it. Your operators will thank you, as the Ultra makes labor fatigue is a thing of the past.
