Description
Our clearance binding combs are available in select colors and sizes, and can save you as much as about 80% off standard pricing. Already a very affordable way to bind, this special pricing can save you even more money on binding supplies. Commonly used for cookbooks and children's books, plastic binding comb spines are made of a durable PVC plastic that features a spine with rings attached that open on one side. The spine on plastic combs is one of the unique features that makes comb binders such a popular solution, because they can be custom printed with your company logo, school name, or book title. Depending on the size you choose, you can bind just a couple pages, or a huge nearly 2" thick stack.
Plastic Comb Binding Capacity Chart:
Follow these 3 simple steps to get the perfect fit with your binding comb and book thickness. The sheet capacity recommendations are based on 20 lb. copy paper, so the most accurate way to choose a comb binding spine size is to follow these steps.- Assemble your entire book (including covers) and lay it flat on a table in a stack
- Measure the thickness of the stack without pressing it down tight
- Add 1/8" to that measurement -- this is the recommended binding spine size

1. What are the custom options available?
We can create custom comb binders in several ways. The first, and most popular, is with custom printing. This can be a pad print, silkscreen, or even a foil stamp, depending on the complexity of the design. The combs are printed while they are flat, and then rolled and shipped to you.
We can also get you custom cut lengths, both longer and shorter than the standard 11” bindings.
2. Can I cut them myself?
Sure! Cutting combs is easy with any pair of scissors.
3. When do combs become oval instead of round?
Beginning at the 1 ¼" diameter combs, the shape changes to oval. In addition, you will find 3 holes and 3 prongs with hooks that keep them closed. This helps keep the pages of your heavier books locked in place.
4. How long are the actual combs?
While made for an 11” length sheet, the edge-to-edge measurement of the comb itself is slightly smaller at about 10 5/8”
5. Will my book lay flat?
Yes, comb binding does not hinder the lay-flat ability
6. Can I turn my pages back to back?
No, the spine does not officially allow pages to turn back to back, though you can simply curve the pages around like so.
