The Fastback® Perfectback™ binding strips let you create perfect bound books (also called soft cover binding) using your Fastback® Model 20 binding machine. Use your own custom wrap-around covers to create the exact look you want. Covers can be offset, ink-jet, or laser printed. Even covers with heat-sensitive inks or toner-based digital printing can be used. Strips are available in three widths-- narrow, medium, and wide-- to bind books as thick as 350 sheets (20 lb bond). There are three types of Perfectback™ binding strips including Perfectback™ LF, Perfectback™ PS, and Perfectback™ TA Strips.
Perfectback™ LF Strips: "LF" stands for "lay flat" and is the best choice when you want your bound book to be able to lay flat on it's back. The patented binding strip is designed to allow the book block to hinge freely from the spine (much like a hard cover book). You get a book that opens easily without creasing or damaging the title surface of your spine. It is an ideal choice for manuals, cookbooks, sheet music, school books, or anywhere you need a book that can stay open hands-free to a specific page. With the LF strip, the wraparound cover is not thermally bound, so you can use heat-sensitive cover materials.
Perfectback™ PS Strips: "PS" stands for "pressure sensitive" and will use a cold pressure sensitive adhesive to bind your book block to your cover. The entire spine is permanently attached to the book block. The PS strip is a good choice when you are using covers that cannot be subjected to heat. With the PS strip, the wraparound cover is not thermally bound, so you can use heat-sensitive cover materials.
Perfectback™ TA Strips: "TA" stands for "temperature activated" and uses heat to bind your book block to your cover, using the same adhesive that is binding the book block. The final step is done in your Fastback® 20 Binder, permanently attaching the spine of the book block to the cover. Covers using heat-sensitive inks, or digitally printed covers are not recommended for this product. The TA strip is the quickest way to create a durably bound book.
